In this movie we can appreciate so well that in a family, the relationship of the people on it change when a difficult situation appears on their lives. In the first part of the movie we can see how the family does not understand very well the intention of the teenager boy of doing a vow of silence, but it has a meaning, Dwayne does it because his parents did not support him to be a pilot because they believed that he did not compromise with anything. But as long as the film advances we can see that the relationship with the other members of the family improves and, for example the dad says to him «I'm proud of you», the boy is happy and answers «thank you, Dad».
In summary, this movie makes us think about the importance of the relationship with your family when you are living a difficult situation to feel supported and happy.
Hi, Clara, well done! That's a very good reflection on the film! Just a comment: the sentence "I'm proud of you" is said by grandpa to Olive's father. So we see that despite all the tensions and fighting, grandpa loves his son and Olive's dad is thankful for that. The dichotomy winner/loser then is also presented here, as grandpa considers his son a winner no matter how bad he's doing with the "9 steps programme", which is an absolute failure. He's proud of him anyway.
